Hṛdaya, where light knows itself
In the Kashmir Śaiva vision, hṛdaya is the heart of consciousness. It is the place where prakāśa, the light of awareness, meets vimarśa, awareness's power to know itself, and the two are one pulse. That pulse is spanda, the subtle vibration from which the whole of manifestation unfolds and in which it rests. Kṣemarāja opens the Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam by declaring that citi, consciousness, is svatantrā, entirely free, and the cause of the universe.
This sādhanā approaches the hṛdaya through many doors over forty days: the breath and the nervous system, mudrā and kriyā, mantra and kīrtan, bhāva and viraha, nāda and spanda. Each day offers a practice, and the days together give pratyabhijñā, the recognition of what you already are, time to ripen.
Those who train as teachers receive the theory behind the practice and the methodology for teaching it, so that what they offer others comes from their own experience of the hṛdaya.

The Six Calls
Intro Call
On Mahāśivarātri we open the forty days together: the shape of the sādhanā, how to practice each day, and what the training asks of you.
The Somatic Heart & Nervous System Regulation
The heart as it lives in the body, and the regulation of the nervous system that lets the sādhaka receive and hold the practice.
Love & Bhāva
Love as bhāva, the inner state that the practice cultivates and the tradition names, and how it differs from the feeling of love we usually mean.
Anāhata Cakra & the Subtle Body
The heart center within the subtle body: its place among the cakras, nāḍīs and prāṇa, and the anāhata nāda, the unstruck sound, at its core.
The Hṛdaya
The heart as the center of the tradition: prakāśa and vimarśa meeting in the pulse of spanda, and the recognition toward which the whole sādhanā points.
Closing call
We close the forty days together: what has opened, what remains to ripen, and how to carry the practice into your teaching.
